The Gubyeong-san
Punghyeol
"wind-energy-focal-point"
in the Sogni-san Mountains
This site is just south of the Sogni-san National Park border, on the lower slope of Gubyeong-san, which
is an 877-m peak considered part of that mountain-cluster, and closely linked to the
Baekdu-daegan
mainline
, part of its region.  It is located just 30 meters up from the Seowon-gyegok Scenic Gorge.

This is a "punghyeol" [wind-acupuncture-point], said to emit a cool airflow in the warm and hot months
and a warm airflow in the colder seasons.   The site contains this pictured punghyeol of 1 meter
diameter and three other ones of about 30 centimeters in diameter.  To understand the concept of
a "
hyeol" [energy-focal-point], see my page on Korea's Pungsu-jiri [feng-shui, geomancy] traditions.

The info-sign here says that it was discovered by modern forest-scientists in January of 2005,
and that it is "a jewel of Great Mother Nature", and that it is considered one of the "three great
punghyeols" in Korea along with those found on Ulleung do Island's Mt. Seongin-san and Mt.
Daedu-san of Jinan-gun County in North Jeolla Province.
